Retiring two blogs, starting another!

I've made some pretty large changes in my life of late. If you've read my other posts, you know that I'm now a Freemason. Big change! I end up attending 3-4 meetings per month (1 is my Lodge's required monthly meeting, and the others are things I choose to participate in) and then I pitch in where I can and attend cool events like our recent historic walking tour of Cambridge. So this means that I have much less time and mental bandwidth for things like video games and some of my spare-time software hacking. Because of that, I'm bringing my two blogs dedicated to those topics to a close. Those blogs are:

ajsgaming.blogspot.com and ajssoftwaredev.blogspot.com

They will continue to exist, but I probably won't post to them any more, and if I do, it will be very, very infrequent.

I'm also spinning up a new blog about Freemasonry that I will be trying to update regularly along with this one. That new blog is at:

tetrahedralmason.blogspot.com

The Tetrahedral Freemason is all about my experiences as I explore what it means to be a better man, from working to improve my community to learning about the past to being there for my brothers to the esoteric and philosophical aspects of it all.

If you have questions, you can post replies to my posts there or here, and I'll try to answer you as best I can.

Dangerous Software Gaming Essays: My four blogs

I'm currently actively maintaining four blogs. This is my random thoughts blog where I'll continue to post about things like politics, science, media, and so forth. Some of my posts will continue to be essay-like, and some will be more traditional blog posts in a mix that I'm sure what few readers I have have come to expect...

In addition, I have three much more laser-focused blogs that will get less frequent updates:

Enjoy!

The "Follow Me" Push

Google provides a gadget for social networking on blogs. You'll see it to the right in the sidebar, labeled "Followers." As of now, this blog has 5 followers. I'd like to keep that growing so that we represent the community of folks interested in this blog. So whether you're interested in the photography or the geeky topics or the politics or whatever, please follow this blog, post a comment or subscribe via RSS and we'll try to grow our little corner of the world into something more.

Meanwhile, here's what I have planned for the future:
  • Obviously, I want to get out into the woods and take more mushroom pictures
  • Next, I have some articles on Perl 6 coming
  • I'm also working on a set of tools for combining Google applications in new ways... a sort of API mashup. I'll have more in the next month or so
  • I've also been thinking about blogging more about the state of World of Warcraft. I don't play as much as I used to, but the mod-writing scene for that game continues to fascinate me, and I'd like to have time to say more about that
I look forward to sharing with all of you. See you in the funny pages!

Moving to Blogger

Aaron's Essays used to be at www.3d6.net/aarons_essays/ which was my own server running MovableType, but I just got too frustrated with MT, and finally decided that maintaining so many different services on my home server was no longer workable. So... welcome to Aaron's Essays. essays.ajs.com will continue to point to this blog as always. I'll continue to drone on about whatever it is that I find interesting, though there may be more posts here than there were on my old blog, since it's a bit faster and easier to use.
